Home Owner Questions and Answers

Q: Want that laminate countertop to last and look its best?

A: When cleaning the surface use a mild, non-abrasive detergent on a damp sponge. Do not use scouring pads. Scouring pads along with excessive force while cleaning will damage the decorative surface.

Avoid placing hot items such as pots, pans and irons on laminate countertops; heat can cause cracking or blistering as well as liquify the underlying glue. Never cut on your new countertops - always use a cutting board. Also, avoid prolonged exposure of steam from the dishwasher to the underside of the countertop. The high humidity and condensation may cause wood warping under the laminate.
